Forest Men's Kitchen Association held our third AGM recently and at this meeting the President and Treasurer reported on the results of our third year of operation. By all measures the year was very successful, with more members, Cooking Instructors, Cooking Sessions and Venues. Starting from Friday 12th April we commenced an additional Cooking Session per month at the Forestville Youth Centre. This Cooking Session, nominally conducted on the third Friday each month, will assist with the over-crowding of our other Friday Cooking Session and give us four Cooking Sessions per month at this venue. This means that for a short time we will have some vacancies for potential members to join a Friday group.
On the menu today Chris planned for us to have San Choy Bow and Spring Rolls followed by Almond Tart and ice-cream. Lin and Alan show off their Spring Rolls before they pop them into the oven and Ken, on his first ever visit to the Kitchen, is rightfully proud of his Almond Tart. Well done boys!
Great news! We opened our third Kitchen on the Northern Beaches in March.
We selected the Curl Curl Youth and Community Centre to be our third venue on the Northern Beaches. We chose this venue so that we will now have a Kitchen in three corners of the Northern Beaches, and through these provide a reasonably "local" Kitchen for most blokes in the area.
Our Curl Curl Cooking Sessions are on the first Thursday of each month. Your Cooking Instructor is Chris, and she will be assisted by Trish. If you are not already a Men's Kitchen member, are you ready to join us and strap on a Men's Kitchen apron?
On December 12th, 80 members and guests enjoyed a Christmas lunch at the ted Blackwood centre in Warriewood. The Men's Kitchen welcomed to this event, the Deputy Mayor Sue Heins, Chris Cavanaugh from Minuteman Press in Pittwater and many guests of members. The Cooking Instructors prepared the meal for us and from all accounts everyone really enjoyed it all.
We also welcomed three prospective new members and an ex-member who was one of the men who were cooking with us when we were still at the Tramshed in Narrabeen.
